In this class we will go over everything scrolls! We will start with the basics going over the back-bones, the stem-lines, and the basic curves that make up leaf patterns. All scrolls have a skeleton and a very basic structure that can be broken down. We will make sure the basic lines look right so scroll-work can be built off of them! After we have drawn a good skeleton we will go over leaf shapes and parts as well as the different lines and curves that make up the outlines.

 We will talk about movement and direction and how to best design a scroll that has some action. We will talk about the different ornament styles and briefly talk about how to draw them or how to choose something that works well with your piece. Finally we will go over shading. Shading, or coloring, is what makes your design pop! There are good ways to shade, and there are ways to shade that don't have quite as much pop. Getting shading down is what will make the design stand out. In this class we will walk through a scroll from the beginning, through the shading and final leaf design!
