Learn old world lettering skills using the modern technology of Zoom! Skyler Chubak is well known for his ornamental lettering skills in calligraphy, sign painting, and engraving. Now you have the chance to learn how to create your own ornamental letters, step-by-step, from beginning to end. 

In this class he teaches students to design letters decorated with ornament and illustration. We will talk tools, reference, and construction. 

He will go through a letter from start to finish and make it easy enough for you to make your own initials after the class!

Using the simple tools of paper, pencil, tracing paper, eraser and a ruler with a few other things, you can make letters come to life. Skyler will show you how to make them 3 dimensional, add ornamentation, add shading, highlights and so much more. 

It can be overwhelming to look at the finished letter and not know where to start! Skyler will share with you where he gets his inspiration, how to take a seed of an idea and work with it, how to do sketches, try different techniques, and how to ink the final letter design.
